The <xsl:number> element represents a value for an element as in a list.

The <xsl:number> element may also use the format attribute to specify the type of numbering used. The values for this attribure are "a," "A," "i," or "I."

The <xsl:preserve-space> element has also been stated at the top of the stylesheets of the following examples. Note the use of the element attribute whose value is a path. The space to be preserved is stated within the XML document. Only one space is read.

This XML file was used for all the examples.

To view the spaces within the XML document, click "View result" then click, View, Source from the menu of the new browser window..
